Innovations for the digital society of the future are the focus of research and development work at the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI. In this area, Fraunhofer HHI is a world leader in the development of mobile and optical communication networks and systems, fiber optical sensor systems as well as the processing and coding of video signals. Together with international partners from research and industry, Fraunhofer HHI works in the whole spectrum of digital infrastructure – from fundamental research to the development of prototypes and solutions. The institute develops standards for information and communication technologies and creates new applications as an industry partner.
Wingcopter has carried out numerous BVLOS flight projects since 2017. Some notable ones are the Deliver Future pilot project in cooperation with DHL and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Tanzania, as well as the Vaccine Delivery Trial with UNICEF in Vanuatu. Together with GIZ and UNICEF, Wingcopter is currently establishing a long-term medical drone delivery service for remote regions of Malawi. Various communication solutions were implemented as part of these projects. In addition to a network of long range telemetry modules, which is very infrastructure intensive, control via LTE and satellite communication was implemented. The successful implementation of a communication solution was a core task of the project team.
Emqopter is a developer and provider of unmanned aerial robotics technology for industrial and civil applications. The company's core competence lies in embedding intelligence into autonomous systems, in the form of complementary sensor technology and efficient software algorithms for precise situational awareness. Emqopter's portfolio of innovative products ranges from a teaching system, sensor modules for collision avoidance to complete unmanned aerial systems, such as the Delivery Drone and the Quanipulator, a drone with a modular gripper arm. In the SUCOM project, Emqopter contributes its expertise in the implementation of obstacle detection and collision avoidance as well as the testing and evaluation of the complete system.
CiS GmbH has been dealing with spatial information systems since its foundation in 1990. As a spin-off from a construction combine, urban land use plans, land use plans and small-scale structuring were the seamless transition from civil engineering to geographic information systems. Since then, we have also been involved in the conversion of analog maps and plans into digital information systems with a geographic reference. Thus for municipalities, service operators, energy suppliers, water and soil associations, agriculture and others. These information systems thrive on the timeliness of their data and the most convenient access possible for all users with a legitimate interest. For 10 years we have been intensively involved in the development, construction and deployment of UAS. Through our perseverance and our efforts to optimize and further develop UAS, we have managed to integrate ourselves in the fields of agriculture, forestry, surveying, monument protection and maintenance.
